America's Top 10 Polluters

It just got a whole lot easier for Americans to find out which power plants and industrial sites are releasing the most emissions. The Environmental Protection Agency recently released its greenhouse gas database, and included some great tools for tracking polluters. While it doesn't include any requirements to reduce those emissions, it could be a first step in that direction by simply making clear who is releasing it and how much is being released. After the Toxics Release Inventory was created in the 80's, companies - under pressure from the public - began cutting even before mandatory reductions were phased in. After all, no one wants to be called out for farting at the party, so to speak.

24 Hours of Reality

The Climate Reality Project, founded and chaired by former U.S. vice president Al Gore, exists to promote a simple message: the climate crisis is real and it can be solved.

The group has debuted the first in a series of teaser videos promoting its upcoming “worldwide event,” a new multimedia presentation by Gore (fingers crossed for PowerPoint presentations!) that will screen once per hour for 24 hours beginning Sept. 14.

Whatever your thoughts on the issue, there is only one question: is this a successful way to, as the group states, “bring the facts about the climate crisis into the mainstream”? Or is it merely more fodder for the group’s existing five million members?

Bringing Clean Water to Kenya

Vestergaard Frandsen's landmark Carbon for Water initiative provides more than 1 million free Lifestraw family water filters to communities in western Kenya, a region with limited access to clean water.

With a means for at-home access to drinkable water, locals no longer need to burn firewood for purification, resulting in carbon emissions savings. Watch the video to learn more about the company's commitment to Kenya and how carbon credits will help provide clean water equipment and training for years to come.
