How To Get a Greener Lawn Organically
Wednesday, December 1, 2010 at 12:00PM Life Around Home's William Moss provides a list of tips on how to make your lawn greener, and doing so organically, promoting a green lifestyle! William Moss discusses the important of fertilizing from mid-Spring to late Summer/early Fall. You don't want to fertilize when the grass is not growing because the fertilizer runs down the sewer system and pollutes rivers and streams.
Next, William discusses the importance of using an organic fertilizer. Organic fertilizer builds the soil as it fertilizes. William Moss also stresses the importance of watering your lawn early in the morning. The water will soak deeper into the soil allowing the plant roots to anchor in the soil better and build a more drought resistant lawn. William Moss also discusses the importance of mowing your grass and to raise the blades up, at least by 3 to 3.5 inches. That way the grass will form a thicker canopy across the ground, and enable a deeper root system, and block out weeds.
